This week I was part of the all female judging team of Women’s International Trophy in Mainz. We had two tasting flights of more than 20 beers each. Hard work, but a good experience for sure.
I went together with two of my esteemed colleagues from Brussels, we all do brewery tours at Brasserie de la Senne, and we got to meet a lot of other female beer professionals.
Great weekend at the #Zythos#beerfestival. This year at a new location in #Kortrijk It was great to help out at the stand of Tipsy Tribe Brewstillery, you all know I love their beers.🤩

This weekend we did a beer tasting workshop. With a lovely small group we tasted beers blindly, judged them and were completely surprised by the winners. We played with macerated flavours and discovered how easily a cassis flavour masks a not-so-great-beer. And we paired several cheeses and chocolates with different beers to see what we liked best. A great way of playing with beer and flavours. I will definitely organise this again.
Special “Beer Tasting & Flavour workshop” at Hoppiness Brussels
Beer sommelier Carien will be hosting an exciting beer tasting and flavour workshop in which we will experience beer tasting in a different way. What does this mean? – We will do two blind beer tastings of two different beer styles to discover flavours without prejudice – We will add different spices and macerated flavours to our beers to experiment and discover our sensitivity to several flavours – We will discover what a slight temperature difference does with beer – We will taste different cheeses and chocolates and pair them with several beers to decide what works best and why
Tickets: 40 euro per person Max. 10 persons for this event so tickets are limitedBeer, cheese and chocolate included as well as tasting sheets.
Jette has a brewery again! Brasserie Taymans had a grand opening day on Saturday the 11th of March. The original brewery, named the Brasserie-Malterie Taymans, was started over 100 years ago. A warehouse was built for maturing Lambic in 1906 and the Brewhouse was ready in 1911 on the other side of the street (Rue Van Huyneghem), just next to what is known today as the Park Garcet.
The main market was in Brussels, and the brewery survived despite going through very challenging times such as both world wars. Pierre Taymans took over the brewery in 1936 and continued the operations despite the limited development options authorized to him on the site.
The brewery ceased operations in 1970 at the retirement of our grandfather, Pierre Taymans and the main buildings took a new life. The family house and adjacent brewhouse were transformed into a youth center welcoming local youth for many years before making way later for an extension of the Park and adjoining school. Now six grandchildren, all brothers, have restarted the brewery and I was happy to be part of the opening day and show people around the brewery.
Hoppiness is all about good craft beer and having a good time. Brussels and Belgium have amazing breweries and we’d like to share our best beer discoveries with you so you can experience Belgian beer culture in the best way possible.
Breakwater taproom & pizzeria in Dover (UK). Lovely place with great locally brewed craft beers and delicious wood fire pizza (that I ate immediately and forgot to photograph). What a perfect place to start an English holiday! 😅
Sion Lentebok (6%) brewed by Brouwerij Sion within the walls of the New Sion monastery in Diepenveen (the Netherlands)
This beer is almost amber in colour and has a nice malty aroma. The taste is full of malts with some hints of caramel and fruit and a well balanced and refreshing hop bitterness. Brewed according to the trappist tradition with local ingredients.
Last month we visited Brasserie Atlas in Bon Secours and it was definitely worth the drive from Brussels!
Atlas is a welcoming, historic tavern right on the border with France. They serve delicious food, all beautifully presented.
All beers are from the nearby brewery @brasseriecaulier which makes it a nice occasion to try different beers from their range. I had the blonde and triple of the renewed Bon Secours range, but of course they have Paix Dieu as well and their tasty alcohol free beer Zero Pression.
In my photos you can see the dishes we had. They looked amazing and tasted absolutely delicious. Each dish was a perfect ensemble of flavours.
Starters: Trompe L'oeil (tomato mozarella) and Tartare de Saumon
Mains: Rigatoni with burrata and Poisson de la criee with saffron and vegetables.
Thank you so much to Brasserie Caulier for the invitation! We will definitely come back. 😊
G de Goudale Millesime 2026 Haka (7.9%) brewed by Elaborado for Brasserie Goudale in Arques (France).
This years grand cru is made with three different hops from New Zealand: motueka, nectaron and nelson sauvin.
The strong blonde, golden beer is full of sweet maltiness, some alcohol warmth and sweetness and tasty fruity hop notes, like pineapple and peach. A good way to get in the holiday mood😅
Pinard de Bruxelles (7.5%) brewed and aged by BBP Dansaert (Brussels), bottled in March 2021. Beer made with Mourvedre grape must from the Languedoc and then aged in oak barrels from Bordeaux, Moscatel and Chardonnay.
Five years in a bottle and wow, what a nice beer blend! Wild yeast of course in both aroma and taste, also a mild and well rounded acidity with notes of grapes, a hint of fortified wine even, notes of prunes, spices and wood as well. YUM!😊
🍻 Happy International Beer Day!🍻

Today we celebrate beer, breweries & pubs. Cheers to all the people around the world making and serving beer and keeping our lovely beer culture alive!
A special cheers to everyone who follows me and to everyone who has ever shared a beer with me. Because the best beer is a shared beer!
The amazing T-shirt design is from @clockworkbrewhouse 🤩
Moose Hammer hazy pale ale (5.5%) brewed by Woodstock Brewery in Cape Town (South Africa)
Lots of hoppy fruitiness in this thirst quenching ale; mango, peach and tangerine coming nicely together. Very easy drinking and comes with a warning on the can: you might get as hammered as a moose🫎…
Zero Pression (0.4%) alcohol-free beer brewed by Brasserie Caulier in Peruwelz (Belgium).
This alcohol free ale is tasty and refreshing, it has a fruity aroma and a good bitter body with notes of grapefruit and orange and a nice lasting aftertaste. 👍
Wimbledon you were amazing! 🤩
A big thank you to @hoptimalt.be for the opportunity. Last month I worked at this majestic tennis tournament for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Such a friendly atmosphere!
Working as a draught master for Stella Artois was great and it was lovely to be part of the launch of the Stella Strawberries & Cream lager.
A big thank you to the whole team, my amazing colleagues:

Always good! A vegetarian spaghetti with Orval cheese on top together with a freshly tapped Bloemekei IPA at Billie (or as I keep saying … De Monk)😅
Cheers!
Duivelsbier Wild (6.3%) brewed by Brouwerij Boon in Lembeek (Belgium)
‘Lead us into temptation!’ This beer from Brouwerij Boon is an ode to the original Duivelsbier from 1883, that was so good they thought it devilish. Duivelsbier Wild is fermented in stainless steel tanks with carefully selected wild yeasts from old wooden lambic barrels. It has a well rounded taste with smooth and slightly sour notes from the brettanomyces yeast. The bitterness from the hops is mild but perceptible on top of the malty body. The sour almost wild wine-like taste lingers nicely.
Game Over Blast West-Coast Ipa (6.1%) brewed by Funky Fluid in Warsaw (Poland).
Brewed with Citra, Simcoe and Centennial hops. The result is a beer with a pronounced bitterness, freshness, and a traditional hop character with mainly zesty citrus notes. Very drinkable for sure!
