Beer Idiots came to visit my tasting room and asked a lot questions about me & my business Hoppiness Brussels
Thanks so much for coming Ahmed! And sorry about being a little camera shy; I can talk about beer for hours, but when there is a camera in my face it suddenly seems harder to find my words ๐
Find the interview here on youtube:
Last week I was in Mainz for the Women’s International Trophy. The Womenโs International Trophy is a unique event in Germany and a top-level tasting: wines, beers, and spirits from all over the world are tasted by an international jury made up entirely of women. All the tasters, sommeliers, oenologists, etc. are experts in the field. It was great to be part of this event again and taste so many excellent beers!

Did you know that the Bourse building in the centre of Brussels (the former stock exchange) is built on top of the remains of a 13th century convent? The bourse building was recently completely restored and inside you can find a beautiful walk way, a cafรฉ, restaurant and Belgian Beer World, an interactive museum experience about beer.
A ticket to Belgian Beer World will also include entry to Bruxella 1238, the museum underneath the building. Inside is allegedly the tomb of Duke John 1st of Brabant, known as Gambrinus, the legendary king of beer.
We have a collaboration with the museum and you will get 10% discount on tickets bought online using this link: https://tickets.belgianbeerworld.be/tracker?tracker_code=95G2NS
It’s also possible to hire me as a guide for your visit of Belgian Beer World. (ENG/NL). You can contact me directly by email for this or contact BBW for a package deal and ask for me.

Hoppiness is all about good craft beer and having a good time. Brussels and Belgium have amazing breweries and we’d like to share our best beer discoveries with you so you can experience Belgian beer culture in the best way possible.
Sophia Lambic (6.5%) by Brasserie Cantillon in Brussels in a collab with Cantina Giardino winery.
Got to taste this special blend at the brewery. It's made of 2 year old lambic beer with white grape (Greco di tufo) pomace that fermented in amphora jugs for several months. After those months the grapes are pressed to extract the liquid and the dry residue is sent to Cantillon to be added to the lambic barrels. They use the equivalent of 300 grams of grapes per liter. The result is very tasty, still distinctively lambic but with lovely notes of white wine and late harvested grapes.

Coney hazy session IPA (4.5%) brewed by Brew York in York (England).
This beer is full of fruity hops, quite a lot of mango flavour followed by citrus fruits. The body is creamy and also juicy, what a delicious thirst quencher!
Coney means rabbit, but this beer is also a nod to Coney street in York.

Breakwater taproom & pizzeria in Dover (UK). Lovely place with great locally brewed craft beers and delicious wood fire pizza (that I ate immediately and forgot to photograph). What a perfect place to start an English holiday! ๐

Sion Lentebok (6%) brewed by Brouwerij Sion within the walls of the New Sion monastery in Diepenveen (the Netherlands)
This beer is almost amber in colour and has a nice malty aroma. The taste is full of malts with some hints of caramel and fruit and a well balanced and refreshing hop bitterness. Brewed according to the trappist tradition with local ingredients.

Last month we visited Brasserie Atlas in Bon Secours and it was definitely worth the drive from Brussels!
Atlas is a welcoming, historic tavern right on the border with France. They serve delicious food, all beautifully presented.
All beers are from the nearby brewery @brasseriecaulier which makes it a nice occasion to try different beers from their range. I had the blonde and triple of the renewed Bon Secours range, but of course they have Paix Dieu as well and their tasty alcohol free beer Zero Pression.
In my photos you can see the dishes we had. They looked amazing and tasted absolutely delicious. Each dish was a perfect ensemble of flavours.
Starters: Trompe L'oeil (tomato mozarella) and Tartare de Saumon
Mains: Rigatoni with burrata and Poisson de la criee with saffron and vegetables.
Thank you so much to Brasserie Caulier for the invitation! We will definitely come back. ๐

G de Goudale Millesime 2026 Haka (7.9%) brewed by Elaborado for Brasserie Goudale in Arques (France).
This years grand cru is made with three different hops from New Zealand: motueka, nectaron and nelson sauvin.
The strong blonde, golden beer is full of sweet maltiness, some alcohol warmth and sweetness and tasty fruity hop notes, like pineapple and peach. A good way to get in the holiday mood๐

Pinard de Bruxelles (7.5%) brewed and aged by BBP Dansaert (Brussels), bottled in March 2021. Beer made with Mourvedre grape must from the Languedoc and then aged in oak barrels from Bordeaux, Moscatel and Chardonnay.
Five years in a bottle and wow, what a nice beer blend! Wild yeast of course in both aroma and taste, also a mild and well rounded acidity with notes of grapes, a hint of fortified wine even, notes of prunes, spices and wood as well. YUM!๐

Moose Hammer hazy pale ale (5.5%) brewed by Woodstock Brewery in Cape Town (South Africa)
Lots of hoppy fruitiness in this thirst quenching ale; mango, peach and tangerine coming nicely together. Very easy drinking and comes with a warning on the can: you might get as hammered as a moose๐ซ…
