Small Hazy ipa (4.8%) brewed by Island Brewing in Bali (Indonesia). Nothing better for tropical weather than a flavourful, not too strong IPA. This beer has a nice tropical aroma of peach and mango, a good hoppy bitterness and a slightly juicy flavour. And of course, light and refreshing as well. Easy ale kolsch (4.1%) brewed by Kura Kura Brewery, Bali, Indonesia. Very pleased to report that craft beer from Indonesia does exist. I had quite a few these past weeks and this is one of them. This kolsch is refreshing, light in body with a flavorful malty taste, brewed well in style. Last week I played tourist in #Brugge and booked a #brewerytour at (sixth generation family brewery) Brouwerij De Halve Maan. I am embarrassed to say I had never been inside. It was an absolute joy to see the industrial heritage that has been preserved in this building, so many machinery and old tanks that are still there. First photo is of their beautiful copper coolship, used to cool down the wort after boiling. The new brewing equipment has taken over the production and the beer pipeline (see photo of the map) takes most of the brewed beer outside the city centre to be fermented and bottled at their bigger building there. Dunkles bock (6.3%) brewed by Pilot Brewing in Charlotte, North Carolina (usa). This beer has a nice aroma of roasted malts with a hint of vanilla, the taste is malty, lots of roasted grains but also a bit nutty and sweet with a dry and bitter finish. A tasty dark German lager brewed in the USA. Dunkles bock (6.3%) brewed by Pilot Brewing in Charlotte, North Carolina (usa). This beer has a nice aroma of roasted malts with a hint of vanilla, the taste is malty, lots of roasted grains but also a bit nutty and sweet with a dry and bitter finish. A tasty dark German lager brewed in the USA. Walk the red carpet royal rouge (7.5%) brewed by Brouwerij The Musketeers in Sint Gillis Waas (Belgium) This red beer out of the bucket list series was made with a mix of red fruits. The result is quite sweet and juicy, it has a strong cherry aroma but mainly raspberry in the taste. The stronger alcohol gives it a solid body, there is some nice maltiness too. Not bitter at all, a little tart but mainly sweet and easy drinking. A blend of unfiltered lambic beer, aged in oak barrels and macerated with a mix of berries (blackcurrant, red currant, strawberry, raspberry,blackberry and wild blueberry) of 300 grams per liter. This beer has aged very well, the brett has given it a smooth, wine like flavour, it's still sour but mild and very flavourful with hints of berries.
